Afghan relocation to Türkiye is a substantial flow driven primarily by displacement and family-reunification needs since 2021. Istanbul, Ankara, Van and Erzurum host Afghan communities of varying sizes, with Persian-language (Dari) and Pashto services in the largest pockets.
Afghan passport holders require a visa to enter Türkiye — typically applied for as a sticker visa at a Turkish consulate (e-Visa is generally not available). Long-term residence pathways exist but document authentication, banking and bureaucratic friction are higher than for almost any other nationality.
Banking access for Afghan nationals is materially restricted — sanctions on Afghan financial institutions limit transfer routes, and many Turkish banks decline to open accounts.
